Vinyl clock

Last month I found a nice DIY to make a vinyl clock. This is really simple and gives a really nice old-fashion look.

These are the tree last knives I garnished.

Resin Time

I've finally decided to protect all my creations with resin and I went for the crystal resin by Gedeo.
I'm actually pretty satisfied with the result: crystal clear effect, no bubbles,... The only inconvenience is the cure time of more or less (lot more than less) 24h.

Adorned with sapphires

Latest memory stick. I put two real sapphires gems into this one and decided to keep a silver and blue tint.

The stick is also a bit smaller (7 cm long)

The Knife (first resin trial)

For my first trial with resin, I decided to decorate the handle of a knife.

The sculpting and decorating parts were as easy as usual but problems came with de resin. I messed with my first application and had to remove all the resin before it hardened. For result, I got lots of little bubbles on this side due to asperities I created.
The second side (see pic) was lot more successful.

Clockwork pendant

Last time I was disassembling a broken clockwork, I thought it might make a good base for a pendant.

This one only took me about 20 minutes.

The Key

For my fifth USB stick, I decided to try a different shape.
I finally went for a key and, that settled, I began the sculpture work.

For the bow, I found a bigger gear to protect the inside. But I'm starting to think about resin even if it might imply some bubbles.

Getting bored again.

Last week I started a new steampunk USB key. This is the fourth so far and I think I'm just starting to become handy enough.
I now know the different tools I have to use and the result of each one.

The different steps of construction are still the same:
 - First I cut the shape of the key and the cap in a piece of wood
 - Then the hole for the usb stick
 - After those two "risky" steps, I start to hew the key in order to put the mechanical parts
 - Fourth step is arranging gears and watch parts, and take a photo of the final version
 - Just before gluing the parts, I put varnish on the wood to avoid grime
 - Then I glue everything.

I didn't take pictures of these steps but I'll try for next time.
Here is the result:

Pipe Lamp : Version 2

This weekend I finished a lamp I've been working on for about a month. There was only a few finishings left like the electrical connection and some fixings.

The lamp seems a little bit "naked" once finished so I added a clock in the centre.

For the switch, I cut in a brass dial and fixed the switch into it.

The base is made of different hydraulic parts.

Pipe Lamp IV (final version)

I finally found a good base for my lamp so here it is:

Final version of this lamp before I create new ones.

Ring II - Or why to order some eBay shit on purpose

After my first trial, I decided to order a second "ugly" ring from eBay.
As for the first one, I began with the removing of the original green stone and finished with some watch parts collage.
This one looks a little bit more modern.

Ring I - Or how to recycle some eBay shit

One month ago I ordered a not-so-expensive ring for my girlfriend on eBay. The thing is that when I received it, there was only one word coming to my mind: ugly.
So I thought: What about a steampunk recycling? And there goes a five-hour creation story.

First of all I removed the original stone. Fortunately I found a watch dial with the exact diameter as the top of the ring.

And there began the collage

After some adjustments and trials, here is the finished ring.

Mechanical USB stick (watch inside)

This weekend I started an all new USB key with some clock parts inside. The new thing this time is that I wanted to put a real functional clock inside.
So I found a mechanical watch movement on the Internet that was actually working, and I drilled a hole for the watch through a wood stick of predetermined section. The hardest part here was to respect the shape of the movement.

Then I cut the piece and sculpted it in order to insert the dials, gears and other parts. I also put some tint and varnish to give a good shiny aspect to the wood.

One or two hours later, here is the result I got.

Last part I made was the cap, with two big gears on it.

Still one thing to do: find a way to stick the glass on the watch.

Design Lighter

As I saw last week this DIY about a steampunk lighter I decided to do my own this weekend.
I started with a true Zippo on which I put some watch parts with glue.

After this first attempt, I found another lighter which I scratched to remove the black painting and I did the same work.

Pipe Lamp III

Today I finished my lamp with the metal imitation on the plastic part of the lamp.

There is still the stability problem but that's for another day.

Bulb Earrings II

Today I finished three more pairs of earrings. The welding part was the hardest part but I got a pretty good result for each pair.
Here are the three pairs plus the older one.

Pipe Lamp II

Today I almost finished my lamp.
First of all, I found a lamp and I looked for a way to fix it on the pipes. I wanted to keep the original articulation to stay as flexible as possible. So I cut the plastic the same diameter as a copper pipe I got and I fixed it into the connection with hot glue.

The only problem is the articulation which is in plastic, not aesthetic at all but I plan to do a metal imitation painting to fix this issue.

I also did the electrical connection and the lamp is working for now.
Last steps are now the painting and finding another support to ensure a better stability.

Pipe Lamp

This afternoon I found some hydraulic stuff of various materials and I decided to do something with it by the end of the day. Finally, I went for a lamp.

So I began to put the pieces together and I scratched the all thing to get the metal shiny. I also thread the electric cable through the pipes for the lamp.

Concerning the different metals, I have copper, brass and steel. I was afraid of the mix of these metals at the beginning but the result convinced me.

I also placed a brass platter, probably to put a clock later. There is also space for a valve.
The next steps are to fix the support, the copper parts and... to find a lamp!

Bulb Earrings

Today I decided to make some unusual earrings with light bulbs. I had a pair of good ones for that but I didn't want to waste it for my first try so I took two others (maybe less attractive) for training.
The hard part was the melding for the clip as I only have a soldering iron made for electric stuff.

Next step, same work with the good ones.

Valentine's Day

I just made this little heart pendant for my Valentine.
This one wasn't very hard because I already had the pendant and I only had to make it look better and I'm pretty satisfied with the result.
